Dr Karl Tooher: CEO Northside Counselling Service Karl is the CEO of Northside Counselling Service. He is a highly experienced manager, therapist, trainer, and consultant. With over twenty years’ experience working in the community and voluntary sectors he has successfully delivered a wide range of services both nationally and internationally in diverse areas. During this time, he has sat on numerous boards, policy bodies, helped develop therapeutic services, chaired task forces on self-injury and suicide; he has a particular interest in mental health, well-being and therapeutic support within the community and voluntary sectors.
He holds a Doctorate in Psychotherapy from DCU. His doctoral thesis concerns ‘Self-injury and clinical supervision’.
Denise McDermott-Barrett: Senior Administrator
Denise joined NCS in July 2022. Denise has worked in the community counselling sector since 2012. She has served on the AACPI Board of Directors. She was a secretariat member for the Fingal Public Participation Network and was a group facilitator for the Social Inclusion, Rural Development, Youth and Enterprise Linkage Group. Denise firmly believes in the development and retention of Community Counselling Centres. These centres provide a place of safety for those in the community who need support.
Prior to working in the Non-Profit Sector, Denise worked in aviation. She has a Master’s Degree in Management for the Voluntary and Community Sector and an Arts Degree in Humanities, majoring in Sociology from DCU
