FAQ

How much does it cost?

All counselling in NCS is provided free of charge and ability to pay is not a barrier to our services. For clients who can contribute to our work facilities are in place to make a donation, your counsellor will explain how this works.

However if someone is not in a position to make a donation they will not be refused counselling.  As we are a charity and depend on funding all donations are greatly appreciated.

How long are the sessions?

The sessions last for 50 mins.

Are all your counsellors professional?

All our counsellors complete their professional training with us and under our supervision. As we are also a training school our senior students complete their professional placement with us – these senior students are under supervision with our clinical supervisory team – we will let you know if there is a senior student available.

Do I need a doctor’s referral letter to attend?

No – you can contact us directly on 01-8484789

How long can I come for?

NCS is primarily a short-term counselling centre which means that people will usually attend for around 8 sessions and then review and see if it would be useful to continue with some more.

Can I go to a male / female counsellor?

Yes – please let reception know if you have a preference

How long is the waiting list?

This varies but we try to see people as soon as possible. When you contact reception we will be able to give you a more accurate time for this.

Do I have to attend every week?

Your appointments will be weekly – for you to get the best out of counselling regular attendance is essential, therefore it is important that you attend all your appointments as arranged.

Your appointment is set at a designated time and day, it is important to be punctual, and each week your counsellor will be waiting to see you.

We understand that at times an emergency or something unavoidable might arise – If you are unable to keep your appointment it is important that you give us at least 24 hours notice – please telephone reception at 01- 8484789.

If because of an emergency this wasn’t possible you are required to notify the centre as soon as possible.

Can I just drop-in?

We can only see people by appointment and are not in a position to see people who drop in.  Please contact us on 01-8484789 to make an appointment
